View Full Version : Thought it'd be nice to point out the vehicles.

Okay... There are several vehicles in the world of Neocron. They can offer a whole different sphere of experience for the city citizen that wishes near-unlimited carrying ability, greater armor than he can wear, and impressive firepower. I can personally attest that even the cheapest combat vehicles can vastly accelerate the novice's learning speed and personal mobility.

NExT produces all of the ground vehicles. The Dome of York has developed anti-gravity propelled gliders. For all of them, there are usally a civilian and a combat version ( like a wheelbike and an assault wheelbike - same frame, but with different armor AND weapon). When I talk of climb ability (for a ground vehicle), I speak of how well it could go up a ~45* hillside at full speed.

NExT produces:

Chaincraft bike - low requirements, decent speed and climb ability. Low threshold for damage, but fairly easy and cheap to repair. Single-seat. The combat version possesses a 20mm dual cannon with appreciable swivel ability. Just don't try to shoot something sideways or behind you, and you'll be fine. The cannon has a quite appreciable punch - definely better than ANYTHING the novice citizen can carry on his person at that level, and for a long time.

Wheelbike - stylish blue frame, quite spiffy speed, though rather poor climb ability, slightly higher threshold for damage. Also slightly higher requirements. Single-seat. The combat version posses a single-bore rocket launcher with a good rate of fire. Caution - the rockets only can go straight ahead from where your bike is facing. While the rockets are fairly powerful, they're still slower to launch and hit than bullets, so either try to keep near your target if you're up against something strong, or do hit and runs from cover.

Hoverbike - This single-seater bike has the highest speed of any vehicle, save possibly the aircraft. While this has atrociously poor climb ability from an initial start, the speed gives it the best climb ability of anything on the ground - just go a long way back, and rev it up! The combat version posseses a 20mm gatling - yes, you heard me - gatling cannon with an insanely high rate of fire. This is THE vehicle if you want to do hit-and-runs or repeated strafing runs.

Wheeler Car - Gorgeous red body, great speed, fair climb ability, quite solid but riders are exposed. Two-seater. Combat version has a single-bore grenade launcher that fires impressively powerful grenades in a high arc.(CAUTION - FUCKING DEADLY TO SELF DUE TO FAULTY LAUNCH MECHANISM. DO NOT USE FOR NOW). Medium level of skill needed to drive.

Chaincraft 4x4 jeep - Total combat vehicle, but fairly effective for civilian transport. Plain but powerful frame, great speed, good climb ability. Three seater - one driver, one passenger, and one gunner. Gun is a 30 (?) mm machine-gun cannon with long range and strong punch and a beautifully high rate of fire. A medium level of skill needed to drive well.

Armored Personnel Carrier - More on the fragile side than the outright combat vehicles, but a huge bonus is that EVERYONE (but the gunner) is totally protected from enemy fire. One driver, one gunner, and six passengers make this vehicle great for moving whole combat squads to battle positions quickly. Weapon is a huge 30 mm machine gun cannon with long range, strong punch, and high rate of fire.

Trike and Heavy Scorpion Trike - Two seaters. The Scorpion is a total combat vehicle. Two seats - one driver/gunner and one gunner. The driver controls a three-bore rocket launcher that fires semi-homing rockets in bursts of three at an high rate of fire. The rear gunner controls a 20mm machine gun. Warning - quite high requirements to drive.

Rhino - This is the ruler of the battlefield. An extremely armored frame makes it totally safe for the occupants (yes, even the gunner is protected!), while the colossal main gun, a laser-driven particle beam cannon, demolishes anything in its path, with the longest range and highest accuracy of any vehicular weapon. One driver, two passengers, and one gunner. Rather on the slow side and only middling climb ability.

The Dome of York has these quite sophisticated aircraft. They have the limitations of being quite fragile and having a very limited range for some of their firepower. The speed seems to be awesome, from reports I've received, and the highest end glider is said to be impressive as all hell. All the gliders have extreme skill requirements.

Scout Glider - single-seater unarmed.

Assault Glider - single seater, with a rocket launcher.

Advanced Scout Glider - two - seater, one pilot and one gunner (with 20mm machine gun, if I hear correctly)

Transport glider - Basically an APC with wings - one pilot, one gunner, and six passenger seats.

Bomber - The king of the skies, if I hear right - two gunnery seats, one bomber seat, and one pilot seat... yeeow!

Now the problem is the cost of getting it repaired.. (WTB The ability for someone with a very high repair skill to repair it for a fraction of the cost..)

Seriously would be nice if you could fly a glider into a factory and have a repairman work on your glider for you at little to no cost for it. (Since it takes dex it wont be possible to be really good at repair AND vehicle skills)
