View Full Version : How to setup Bit Torrent to seed if you downloaded via HTTP

I downloaded the game via one of the mirrors posted yesterday, and i thought I would quickly describe how to setup the files so that you can join KK's Bit Torrent since i know you all want to seed and help this file to get out...

Step 1: download KK's torrent file
Step 2: Run it
Step 3: Shut down Bit Torrent
Step 4: Bit Torrent creates a folder called doy_retailclient, extract your files from your .zips to that folder
Step 5: Start up Bit Torrent again, It will verify your files accuracy, then you can switch to super-seeder mode, It recommends you balance your number of seeds so that each user gets 6-8kb (8 seeds = 64kb)
Step 6: sit back and watch your ratio go ubar high

was asking about this before - came up with this solution as well and it worked :)
one question though - i use Azureus - is there a super seed in it because i can't find one.
EDIT: NVM found it under queue :)

Okay it says 3 now right? cos i forgot i re-booted my PC and didnt start my torrent client!

I have never even used Torrent till the Beta, and i only have the client Bit Tornado so i dont know about that other one you mentioned. My share rating is exceeding 17,000 *hugs self*

Just DON'T used super-seeding.

Don't SUPER seed
Super seed is special retarded mode if are ONLY 1 seeder, have crappy connection and want to stop seeding in next 30 minutes.
(probably coz your parents will be back home from work and they banned you from computer coz teacher said you'r smoking cigs in boy's bathroom...)
Super seeds keeps checking whats and whys, thus wasting bandwith. With that many clients and KK seeding, there are no chances last complete seeder will log off and whole world will be left with a hole in file - so it's plain wasted bandwith.
