Title: Hurrican Reakktor: The Birth of the Storm

Alright - here is a company that creates a kick as game where the source of income steams from the servers inwhich their customers play on. After releasing the game, they promise them the world. Here is how it went wrong.

Broken & Delayed promises

1. Player controlled mechs.
2. A 'kick ass' expansion that should be released no sooner than Q1/2003 free of charge.
3. Viable Epics for ALL factions/player classes.
4. An ACTUAL story line.

Here is a prime example of what 'they' call a storyline event:

Whats with the spanish? besides, we know the 'canyon' wont have a scratch to it after this event, there will be no broken walls nor dead NPCs. Stop asking use to pretend already. The point of the virtual game is to simulate, not ask the players to ALSO 'make pretend' within the construct. It's boring! Get it through your heads. Also spawn events are loosing its chime after being so over done. I can see the ECC's right now in an IRC meeting.

events. They gain really nothing from them and just wear out their implants,
armor and time for no real cause. Plus the mobs are not even at least
interesting to kill and any player can just find them if they're really that
exciting in the first place.

But alright fine, the players have already learned not to count events anyhow. A good event should be all of the following and not missing a single one: Actually Fun, Rewarding, Does Not Cause Server Crashes!

Poor Administration

You know, just cause you create something does not mean you'll know how to use it well. I bet a stunt man can whip around a car better than the engineer whom forged it.

Reakktor, fellas, I've mentioned before - you would have done BETTER to this game if you had just made it and left someone else to run it. During Neocron Ones life span this community has seen alot of their friends go because of very irresponsible things.

Patches/Stability:
1. Not enough new UPDATES: Going months without a new patch is horrid for a new MMORPG. (ha! 'massive' right) (go to 5.c.)
2. Sledge Hammer Patches: NOT good for a game code this complex. (go to 5.c.)
3. USELESS additions and still NON FUNCTIONAL options:
- a. Like the political system. (go to 5.e.)
- b. And the NCPD bounty system. (go to 5.e.)
4. 10+ CRASHES DAILY: "BETA" was a long time ago guys. (go to 5.a then c.)
5. The server LAGGED anytime 200+ players entered. yay ... not only lagged, but bugged in ways where:
- a. players end up loosing items, experience, built weapons (go to c.)
- b. spawned into some strangers apartment (then killed with no chance if knowing where the belt is)
- c. forced them to log off hating your product and flame forums.
- d. they quit and play a better game free.
- e. you loose more respect.
- f. the 'login server' somehow corrupt a database, cause a dead man named Murphy said so - save it please. (oh wait! if you did we wouldn't be in this mess, right)

Fun Factor: Those right there are THREE MAJOR aspects of this game that _should_ be fun.
1. RP rewards STILL have not been implemented. Oh no wait! they were!

2. Having an OP in The Wastes still meant nothing much.
3. Enhanced game play when capped: Since RP had no rewards and OPs were mostly useless being capped meant you had more time to spam trade and pk in aggies


Communication:
1. You dont listen to the players, simple.
2. You also dont listen to the Faction Consellors/Few Few GMs whom are around the players much more.
~. Infact, you just dont listen at all where it COUNTS.

Let me explain something - sure you made the game, but we pay to play it. There needs to be a sort of compromise between your vision and what we as a customer wants. That's how you make more money and a mostly happy community backing you up. The equivalent of how you run this game would be you opening an retail store and placing a manikin too close to the door way. You don't notice at first but customers start complaining that it makes it harder for them to enter, even a pregnant lady falls and busts her 'ish. Yet still you let it remain cause 'it looks pretty and I like it there'.

If you want to make a personal game to call 'your baby', create a mod. Because once you start making retail boxes -- especially a mmorpg -- compromises are a MUST. No wonder why CDV were too embarrassed to advertise this Neocron product.

It seems so silly to me, why they simply didn't listen to the players from the start. Who knows the game better then the people who play it?.....NO ONE.

Neocron's population on a good day with the wind at it's back, would be considered a failure compared to others.....but we loved it, loved it more then it's mother did.

It's sad really, but KK deserves what ever beating it's getting....rule number one. When offering a customer your product, make sure that he/she is happy with what you've done, otherwise there are others who will do better, you will lose and your company folds....it really is that simple.

I have some words for ya....can you say "Faces of Mankind" or maybe Twighlight Wars, citizen Zero.....him....KK's days are already numbered.

Good thread, although I think the problems with events and story are not always down to lack of imagination on the part of KK and GMs, more down to the limitations of the game and the tools available to them. 12 months ago we talked about this and I remarked that a real need for Neocron 2 was an expanded set of GM event tools......chance of this being in Wednesday's build? 0.1% :(

Statement:
Photcron is a ex-Faction Counsellor who was dismissed from the team for several serious malpractices and failures to comply with our basic rules of conduct for voluntary helpers.

This thread is his attempt to shoot back as he still hasn't realised his malpractice and thinks that we just kicked him out for no reason. Another motive for posting this thread is his attempt to get the items that are on his ex-Faction Counsellor character (quote:"give me my items and i will leave quietly)

I don't deny that some of the issues he mentioned in his post are true. We make mistakes, but we try to learn from them in order to make it better the next time.

If his motivation with this thread were to show us, constructively, what we could make better, then I wouldn't have a problem with it. But this thread is just a payoff with us as he still thinks that he has been thrown out for no reason and that everyone hates him and wants him gone.
