Okay well i wont go into the exact date of my pc but lets just say that it is running on pc100 ram and has no agp slot..

So i went and found a cheap pci video card.. the radeon 7000 pci edetion. Get home and start tryin to install the drivers..

First error message was "cannot find shell.dll"

So i go to windowsupdate and it detects new drivers that i need for video card.

Second error i get after install and restart of Comp..

"Ati drivers not found or not installed properly. Program will now close and drivers not installed"

Can any one help me with what i need to do next. and dont say buy a new mother baord cuz it is a work in progress that will last a couple months. I just want to get this comp to function for now.

Any info will help. Thanks

Try this.

1) Uninstall the drivers for the videocard if you installed the ones that came from ATI.

2) Open the Device Manager on the Hardware Tab of the System Properties (WinKey + Pause/Break is a shortcut to the system properties) And uninstall your display adapter

3) Reboot the PC

4) Install ATI's latest drivers.

Hopefully that should work.

okay I uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers and when i restarted comp i got another message saying that the "ATI control panel failed to initialize because not ati driver is installed or it is not working properly. The ATI control panel will now exit." Any ideas about this now?
