nah, unreal 2004 is 6gb, which is over 10% of a 40gb hard drive, add, 1.2gb for neocron, thats 7gb, windows = 5gb or summit = 12gb, so we are over 20% full without even touchin the sims 8 in 1 pack, which is like another 6gb, then the sims 2, which is 3gb, thats 15gb so far, then I had to chop up my hard drive into two partitions, about 20/20gb each to backup my stuff, so was left with like 5gb, not much tbh, now my 40gb drive is just backups, my 160 is split into 2, one for linux, one for xp, plenty of space, 34gb used on drive C

I think you've had more trouble with your PC recently than KK have had fixing bugs in NC2

a lot of cool piccies... I´ve seen most of the others you´ve made, and I would miss it if you stopped making them...

and yes of course you will just buy a new hdd when you need :)

now, my ideal machine..

AMD 64FX-53
1GB Dual Channel Crucial DDR RAM
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum

NS_CHROME54
17-09-04, 21:34
forgot 2 things lexx, first you need more ram. 3 gigs should do the trick. and stripe them harddrives. that'll make windows 3.1 run wicked fast.

Lexxuk
17-09-04, 21:43
3 gig? nah, lets go for 4, 4 x 1gb dual channel stuff, naturally they are stripped, didnt think I needed to point that out :p the mobo is nice too, nforce3, the 4 should support the 6800ultra pci apparently

I wonder how 3.11 would run on a p4 prescott? hmm...

I'm suprised no one came on like... OMG UR RIGG iZ teh SuXXOR.. it seems that no matter what somone posts as their specs someone always says that its complete crap.

Here's mine and I'll show you what i mean

1Gb Samsung DDR on Dual Channel
2 Maxtor 160Gb 8mb Cache IDE Drives (striped for 1 305gb drive)

Widnows 3.11 couldnt run on a machine with over 20gig hard drive for a start, lol.

You should use Linux, then you'd really get the best performance out of your new box :)

We should start a system specs thread :D

you dont use the hard drive on 3.11, you set up your system to load 3.11 into a ramdrive, 256mb should surfice, then it runs at the speed of light :p

Well, I got an OS that supports that CPU, but nah, though Intel are to reprice the Itanium against the Xeon, the Xeon does have the P4EE which has 64bit instructions, I just wanna nice home version that doesnt require a mortgage to buy :p
