Ok my connection is 1.5mb line in the northwest england area but whenever i try download through BT/p2p network (e.g kazaa) it will just stop working, forcing me to restart my pc everytime. Anyone know whats wrong with it? or anyone using NTL in my area having connection problems?

It seems to me that whenever i start uploading it makes the connection stop. Is this a problem on my behalf or theres?

Btw i did phone NTL up just and fucking foreigners working in our country saying he cant understand me and hung up the damn phone.

NTL are ****'s

anyway, i am on NTL and i use Bit Torrent all the time. I wouldn't use Kazaa or anything.

Try scanning for spyware and such using an updated ad-aware.

I have NTL. I've never had that problem, although there better than BT I'm not too impressed.

I had a similar problem with people who couldn't speak very good English. I ended up unknowingly paying £300 for two 56k internet connections over a year and a half because of that. Stupid inclusive bills.

I wish I could help more with your problem though. Is there anything else I can test for you on my NTL line?

I dunno i mean i dont know how to set it up, i dont where it is on my pc, i see no new installed programs when it got installed (i was'nt at home when it was installed). I cant get network to work between me and my bro's pc. Ive never had cable broadband i was using ADSL before this on freeserve.

Anyway i just turned pc off and turned the modem off for a few minutes because it says on the pre-recorded messages to do that to fix most problems so ill see if it stops working soon. Id like to know how to setup a network and how/where to setup the cable line. I see this on my network places "SMC EZ Connect USB/Ethernet Series Converter" as Local Area Network...is that it?

Ive got an NTL broadband installer CD and im ASSUMING that he did install it on my pc even though i dont see anything NTL related anywhere on my pc.

Worst of all ive got this piece of shit for the next 11 months

I have 1.5meg line from NTL but i have no NTL software installed at all.

I have the modem then i have that hooked up to a Router at the moment and then that goes to my PC.

I'm on Win 2K and it recognises it all no problem.

The best advice I can give is to call them up and insist they help you. Tell them that you do have a problem, and you need them to fix it. Insist untill they finally admit there is a problem there and they look into it for you.

Post how it works for you on the forum.

lol ur gonna luv NTHell, i too have their amazing all singing all dancing 1.5 mb connection. lol took them 14 months 2 mookish engineers and a "Senior" engineer (oooh i feel so lucky) to fix a prob i had with downstream power levels causing my connection to drop out.
The 1st engineer came and fitted a dongle to zee back of me modem to balance power levels, that kinda sorted it, the second engineer came along and removed the afore mentions dongle causing the problems to come back worse than before, finally the 3rd engineer comes and guess what, yes ur right, he fits the same dongle back onto my modem.
So now i'm not much better off really, ok so it works, but customer services is none existent, i luv calling em up just to rant at em, and oh how the music while ur in the que winds me up. The number for NTHell Customer Services in the UK is 0800 052 2000, plz feel free to call em up and tell em they are shite, oh and say hi from me too.
I would change ISP but they got me over a barrel cos there isnt another broadband/highspeed internet provider in my area. That is ofcourse unless the old age bastards who live where i do all call up BT begging for broadband so they can get their fix of granny porn.

On a serious note, call em up, get thru to their technical support and the first thing u should say is to ask the name of the person who u are speaking to. Then request that u speak to the most senior member of staff in the call center at that time. Worked for me and i got the enjoyment of hearing the c**t on the other end of the phone shat himself :) Alternatively write a complaint and spam every NTHell customer support mail address that u can find :).

Best of luck, cos from my experience they dont give a fuck

Just raked up 45 quid on me mobile fone trying to sort the problem. you tell em what it is, they pass you along.

For my trouble - I get an ethernet cable...

Also - for no apparent reason the modem kicks back in...
