View Full Version : [OT] Doom 3 duct tape

Ok, since there seemed to be quite a load of people who enjoyed doom 3
around here I figured this might be useful to someone. Ive modified the
original duct tape mod made by glenn murphy to work on all weapons (that
could fit a flashlight, with duct tape, go figure), and also reverted the
lightmap back to the one using the flashlight (as if you had actually taped
your flashlight to the weapon, go figure). Some might think its wussy, some
might like it, personally I enjoy this game more as a shooter than as a horror
game after the first time around *shrug*

Thinking about making a doublebarrelled shotgun as well but I have to chose
a weapon to replace then, and it would still only use the normal shotgun
model so I donno... :/

blehhhh rade wtf...i expected to see actual flashlights with actual ducttape around the original doom3 weapons! ;/ remake the models then rerelease this schtuff!

I think you are slightly underestimating the amount of work it takes to make
new models :p If theres any modelers who feel up to it then Ill help
implementing it, my artists are bussy with other stuff ;)

Cant you make it like in Doom2? If you press the Shotgun Button (3 or something) twice you can change between the normal Shotgun or the Super Shotgun ... but maybe ID will put it in the Doom Addon or next Part ... o_O

Simple answer - I have no idea. I have just been looking at the script and def
files. I took a quick peek at the files and they all have the .dds extension.
They are in dds/models/weapons/shotgun/ in the pak001.pk4 file if you unzip
that... maybe you can gather more from them than I can.

i think its pretty sweet that you can even do that in a game. doom3 pwns, but me really wants half-life2 ::drools::

Okies - I'll see about getting hold of a .pak, as i don't have doom 3 as of yet.

I'm thinking also - sod the original maxes - the info i need will be in the dds file, I hope. I'll have to obtain something to help gimme an idea of the rate of fire though, so I can time the animations as I can't use the existing information for a new weapon... wait... maybe I can - will give it a crack today.
