i remember a while ago i suggested an ingame webbrowser for neocron, and the neolauncher pro crew actually started working on it, anyone have any news on that? it would be kickass if someone completed it, i dunno how many times i wanted to access the forums while playing neocron and simply couldnt handle the slowness so i had to exit neocron to do so. I havnt even seen anyone from the neolauncher crew on the forums in a while, wtf happend?

I think Bram said they won't be bringing out a new NLPRO until NC2. I also think the webbrowser will be in it then.

Does anyone know why the Neocron process takes so much CPU time?

Because Neocron 1 was made to use a lot of CPU and little GPU

The webbrowser was part of ItemGFX by Mighty Max.

If he is not writing a new version of that piece of software, there will be no webbrowser, unless someone else codes something that interacts with the Neocron client.

What would be cool: Internet cafés in NC2 - Your able to see what people are browsing! HAhAH!

Neocron is run on a DirectX 7 engine which means most of the graphics processing is done by the CPU not the graphics card.

Neocron 2 is updating the engine to DX9 which should reduce the burden on the CPu.

it was being written by Mighty Max and could be used with his ItemGfx program. however, since the moddification forum is now down it may be illegal for him to continue. I was yelled at for making a rpos mod ;[ but maybe that mjs said we can make mods as long as they are cosmetic and give absolutely no advantage.

I would prefer if they had a built in browser into the game, but rendered within a citycom. Although playing a character in a game who sits in their apartment surfing websites seems a bit too geeky.
