Hacknet?

So much talk about 'hacknet' but I can't work out exactly how it works or what it is, even though I have tried to work it out with the bits and pieces published in different places.

Has somebody got a link of where it is exactly explained?

Cant be bothered to find it but there was a post with a title of somthing like stuff from the german boards where hacknet was explain pretty well in german and we got a poor translation.
