6800 = slow ddr1 memory and weak power system = slow and not overclockable.
go for GT

my bro's got a 9800 PRO (free from winning national CS tournament) and its lovely.

The X800 pro has got nvidia fucked though - very very nearly as fast, and cheaper...

Ati rocked with 9800, but X800 it's just same technology, doubled and overclocked.

I'd still go for a x800 pro vivo and then unlock it to 16 pipes, or even flash it to xt pe

The X800 actually draws from the 9600 core, not the 9800 one. And it contains something like 1.5x as many transistors as a 9800XT core does. The 9800XT is pretty much the upper cap for the 9800 core, you can overclock to an extent but not by much. Also the X800 is clearly not a 9800 at heart, since it doesn't need memory heatsinks like the 9800 series does, yet provides more performance.

The only reason the GF6800 doesn't have much in common with the GF5 line is because the GF5 line blows. :p
