Ok. So to pass the time, i had an idea.
It seems we have some really talented folks here, viewing the forums...so let's do a little something like many of the graphic community forums. Let's have a little battle.
First, some ground rules.
Tool you can use:
Use of all of these tools are not required.
Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, MS Paint, 3DS Max
Typography:
You are free to use any freeware/shareware font you like. Use of commercial fonts is prohibited.
Filters:
Use only basic photoshop/psp filters, if you use any. No third party filters or add-ons to the above mentioned graphic apps is allowed.
Topic:
Neocron, present day. No use of "future" features, etc are allowed for inspiration, as not all of us have seen beta. Other than sticking to the topic, you are free to interpret neocron into the below image anyway you wish.
Judging:
Deadline for the final image will be set for the end of this week, Saturday, August 21, 2004. All competitors should email me at andybenton@oesm.org. At that time, I will place all images on my personal webspace then create a post here with a poll for forum members to vote.
Finally, the image:

thers more room on the left side, the picture is currently a 3d model, but i cant find a decent font to burn into his head. i made it 3d to get a contor on the copbot. anybody add the words neocron i would greatly apriciate it

Work in progress, will replace the Implant port on the back of his head with some proper looking ones later, when I find some cool implants, unable to find any borglike ones. =(

Now the port is looking more like it's been wet wired in. Maybe it's what MC5 used to transfer info during the brain washing?
Also Maybe I'll add 3 more ports for implants. as that's how I belive they are implanted, They slot in and the poke tools nanobots secure the connections and rerout the nueral pathways to connect to the port, while the poker, programs the implant to become active.

Mind if I give it a go? have nurbs head thats contoured I can use that as the mesh, I'm sure a JPEG of a burned text and a bump map would work for getting the text branded on. Try Impact font on PS7 and then Inner glow, Make a new layer of the text - white text, and radial blur with the zoom setting - It makes rays, then set the luminsoity of the layer to yellow, or whatever colour ya want, and it looks like the text is burning thru the head.
Also - below is the mood board for my piece - maybe it'll help some of ya get inspired, and show you what kinda things you might wanna use :)

Did you cut the collar and put it in another layer? If so, remove the light effect, Layer -> Merge layers -> Implement lighting.
As an after thought, is there anywhere I can submit digital art files and crap to be reviewed and maybe put in an NC2 patch as an extra skin or something?
