Hell yeah.

Although it also depends on CPU and RAM, but that's a hell of an upgrade from what you have.

you'd be suprised

i went from Voodoo 3 3000 to GF4 MX440 and my FPS didnt go up very much, however it was far more consistant.

you'll see more of a difference when DoY is released.

Aye, it's mostly processor based isn't it at the mo? Most of em just tend to top out... Roll on DOY, so my GFX card may spontaneously combust. Tis a radeon 9600...

And if you do insist on laughing, At least donate to my cause for a new GFX card! :angel:

Those of you who get average FPS, lets say about 30 - 60, then you might be able to increase it drastically. Go to properties on your desktop by right clicking...A window should appear, click on the settings tab, then the advanced button. Then a new window should appear, click on your graphics card name (should be on a new tab). Then you have to disable V-Sync. It might be in the form of a table, or a slider bar, or a fly out menu. You will just have to find the option.

With my system GeForce FX 5900 Ultra, AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 512DDR PC3200 RAM, it boosted my FPS from flickering 75-90 to a flicking 150-200. I'm quite pleased with it! :angel:
Now I can fight at Sieger with furthest fog distance without any screwed fps!

When people say Neocron is CPU/RAM based, it isnt true. My old machine was a 1.4 ghz with 512mb ram and my new one is a P4 3.0 ghz with hyperthreading and 1024 PC3200 ram. I cant say I see any high fps boosts at all (maybe 10 fps) with the same graphic card.

so disabling this vsync thing will get me better fps then wank3r? Will it ruin anythin else on any other programs. Its jus that ive not pvped in like 3 months outside of playing a ppu and i got my ass handed to me last night by a very average melee tank. We compared fps etc prefight n his was like 3x better than mine. i was gettin 20-30 fps prefight n around 20ish midfight, he was getting 60-90 and it was rather embarassing getting beat.

Installing the newest mouse drivers brought me about 10 more fps. Not much though, but still ;)

Disabling vsync just increased my fps quite a bit...haven't done a good solid test yet, but logged in briefly while running 10 other progs, and was still doing better fps around plaza than I normally get...

Vsynch, sometimes isn't available to change as an option. I prefer Vsynch on though. specially on some of the ATI cards, not sure about the 9800s but the 9200 and 9600 are bloody awkward. Just a word 'O' warning. I prefer Vsynch on though.

Only reason i can see for enabling VSync is to removing issues with tearing. It gives me horrible mouse lag because of the amount of frames rendered ahead (i believe), and this cant be changed using ATI drivers, however Nvidia drivers allow you to change it :mad: .

Sure you MAY get more FPS if you remove VSync, simply because it caps your FPS at value of your refresh rate. Although (to me at least) it's pretty much impossible to see any difference in FPS when it rises over your refresh rate. So you can do it, but i honestly think there is no point other than for figures sake.

Depends...
If it keeps your FPS consistently higher than before, when before it was dipping low enough to notice the difference, then it is better...

For me, it sometimes dips pretty low, so I think the vsync will be a benefit to have off...

Doesnt the eye only see around 60 frames per second anyway?

cable TV is only 24-28 frames a second...monitors usually refresh at a minimum of 60fps - and usually 70fps or higher is better for the eyes and gives less headache

Still CPU based as above. OF course Nc2 should bring it more relying on your Gfx card I think and hope.

I know when I got my 64bit amd my fps increased loads and stays pretty good in op fights.

something like that... makes me laugh at people boasting their fps of 100 :)

100fps = no screen lag....
100fps = optimal refresh rate for your eyes
100fps = looks good on paper
100fps = 30fps in a op war :lol:

Thats actually not true. The eye can sense way above 60fps on video games. TV fps and video game fps are no comparison. I will try to find the article I read about this.

The reason for the eye to interpret video (around 25 fps) as smooth motion is because the frames are more or less interpolated. If you pause a video you will see this clearly as the picture is "blurred" by motion. If you could pause real life this would happen too.

Stating that 100fps is the "cap" for our beloved eyes is wrong since the eye doesnt work with refreshrates at all. Our view is constantly updated over the whole fov. Each "pixel" so to say is constantly streamed into our brains.

So imo. a framerate at 1000fps with sync on (to remove tearing) looks and feels more lifelike than the 100fps.

Oh.. and btw. Sex.

to keep myself from sounding stupid i must add that the 1000fps with sync on would require a monitor with a refreshrate of 1000hz which ofcourse doesnt exist...

just wait until doy and ur 5900 will kick ass

nc1 is on dx7 so alot of stuff is calculated by host cpu..

i dont think u will notice anything special with nc1

Yep NC2 is way smoother, a friend of mine is in beta so i've seen it. My first comment was not "Whoa look at those textures" but "OMG! FRAMERATE!!".
