Capped at 60fps? The cynic in me thinks that that's a marketing ploy, to give the impression you can actually get decent fps :)

Neowin are reporting that some lucky people have got their hands on a copy of Doom III with screenshots hitting the net.
The game which isn't due out till next week in the US and the week after in Europe has been one of the most anticipated games in ages.

This is like so old news, but then again does anyone here actually play other games? everytime i post anything about good games it goes to the bottom of the page so i stopped doing it because i figured everyone has a 450mhz 16mb pc here and dont care about anything else :rolleyes:
Oh and the fps are capped at 60fps for multiplayer purposes...but again...does anyone actually know there is a massive 12 page hardward review of doom3 on hardocp.com? o_O if you do you'd know that the 6800ultra averages at 55 - 60 fps on all setttings most of the time.

Edit/ I couldnt resist, my hunger for Doom3 is WAY to fucking high and i need all the info i can get...OMG the lighting on some of the pics and his pc looks pretty shit and is really low ressolution. Glad i upgraded :D
Mmm I like the idea of capping fps, that way there isnt a huge differance in fps advantages in multiplayer.
Just a side note, there Is co-op play for consoles but not for pc :(
I also heard that doom 3 will only support 4 players per online server

Half Life 2 sounds overated.
Last september the graphics in the trailer blew me away. Now some of the screenshots actually look pretty crap, and the models, with the exception of the face, look pretty standard too. The detailed city industrial locations I have seen before more than once, and physics like that are common place now. As for the gameplay, I doubt it will beat the claustrophobic feel I enjoyed in Half Life 1.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it will be a decent game. I just expect it to taint the Half Life reputation a little. I am positive it won't exceed our expectations, and very doubtfull it will meet them.

But if it was released a year ago, like the first release date was set to. It would blow you away! And I think it still does with a dx9 gfx card!!!
I remember seeing the footage from the origional Half Life a long time before release where you saw tenticals coming up from the floor.
I remember thinking it looked kinda crap. Very 3D, but nothing special.
I fear that the anticipation of games like Half Life 2 will ultimately destroy them. There is nothing better than buying a game with a good reputation, only to find out it exceeds your expectations ten fold.

Well it has gotten 4 93%+ reviews out of 4....When you say looks do you mean litterally the "looks" or the style of gameplay? If you mean it actually looks worse than HL2 then i just have to laugh out loud! HL2's graphics one year ago was on par with FarCry...HL2 and FarCry is no where near on par with doom3..it has real time shadowing (not real time lighting) it has loads of new things that no other game has ever done and it looks fucking superb on low settings even at 800x600 and lower.

It was never delayed because of the hack...the hack didnt help but the game was'nt even close to finished and Doug Lombardi has said that.
Valve only summed up the game will have zero bugs by 31st July (one day ago)...the game is set for mid-to-late september release. It goes gold half way through this month.
Doom 3 is 'Retail-leaked' and I tryed it, not mentioning where or how :rolleyes: but im telling u all the game is amazing!!(!!!!!) and its worth buying it

Aww come on, they didnt delayed half-life 2 because the source + content was stolen. They hadnt done much at all on the game, if you know how the leaked hl2 was like, would you buy a game like that?
Gotta agree with rob there, the game will actually be done now in agust, think it was the 2nd or 5th. altho the release will be sometime in september

And the game is pretty small, I played it for like 4/5 hours and im at the last lvl already!! And its annoying dark, cus you cant set the brightness higher and then you can see shit! You have to switch from your flashlight to your weapon everytime :/
They need a flashlight mounted on the gun.
Anyway its a pretty nice game....

You should try gettting a program called Powerstrip which can increase the gamma easily. On the other hand, Doom is suppose to be dark :p
Anyway whats your avarage fps and does it drop during battles ?
I'm on a 2000+ with GF4MX and fear the worst :(
the games too fecking dark and i'm sorry to say but the frights become far to predictable after 20 mins.

Last time I checked some naughty download locations over 60000 people were being bold.
Activision got onto US retailers and told them to start selling it immediately so all you Americans may want to go down your local gaming store now :D
I run GeForce FX 5950 Ultra with AMD Athlon FX 3000+, setups are 1024x768 and High specs and 4x Anti Aliasing, there is no such thing as lagg :lol:
