Ok Almost every thread in this forum pisses me off to the point of simply not using the forums again. Spam thread hijacking fucking pisses me off sometimes it looks as if people did it just to look cool O_o I just read a thread where someone was asking a question or should I say asking for help on how to install neocron. So I looks to see if anyone gave them a good way of doing it but all I saw was thread hijacking GOD STFU go spam some another fucking place theres no need for it grow the fuck up and get a life O_o

heh on that one forum post i did about 4 posts then stopped, before freya even mentioned anything (the post freya put was actually done about an hour after the spam stopped :p )

I have to admit laughing at the thread linked above but I agree it with Lil T it serves no purpose at all. Even our most illiterate colleagues deserve better support from the community than that. It's things like that which have really put me off certain other games.

Could we at least leave in place the new policy of being able to discuss some in-game stuff while slapping the shit out of the no-life spammers?

I don't really think the old rules need to be brought back but some people just need to learn not to hijack posts which are not there own. I mean fine post total crap in your own post but when someone asks a question and all they get is <insert randon shit here> it gets silly and annoying

I think it would be usefull to talk to the handfull of abusers instead of nipping the masses. I was just thinking, not that would make sense, or be a good use of logic to solve a small problem.

OK it's that time of night (morning) again where Sera is too tired (and a little drunk) and decides to actually tell everyone how she feels, whether they care or not...
So here's my 2Cents:
There is WAYYYY too much spamming going on lately... to the point where only like 1 in 5 posts is anything worth reading and 1in5 are really kind of disturbing. I think it's sad that some good posts with some good ideas about Neocron got either hijacked into discussions of the finer points of Midget pornography and what qualifies as a midget (as an aside: I AM NOT SHORT!) or buried on the second page under a mound of shit, where we can't revive them (if we actually follow the rules, specifically about not reviving old threads...)
Loosening the rules was a GOOD thing, but as usual a few people have taken it too far. My opinion is the mods get cozy to their edit sticks, and yes their Banhammers, but not tighten the rules for all of us who have shown we can be responsible.

I think there are a number of reasons for this, not least of which is the fact that as more people use the forums, the more "chatty" they will become. In january there were around 900-1100 users on the forums in any one day, whereas yesterday there were 1577, which represents a significant increase. Having said that, it's the same names that keep cropping up so if you know in your heart of hearts that you are a major spammer I would ask that you stop before things turn nasty - people have been banned in the past for spamming.

Cant you add a button to peoples names or their post to add em to the ignore list? as of now you have to goto User CP/add to buddylist/ignorelist... then try find the thread again you were reading.

that could be a good idea to lessen the spam maybe, atleast it helps us to ignore ppl who usually only spam useless info... but that idea could backfire and all of a sudden everyone in the forum has everyone else on ignore and noone will be able to read anyones posts :lol:

the fact people become more chatty is 100% true, ive noticed i know a lot more people on these forums a lot more and i tend to become more personal in conversations and definatly become much more chatty in what i say, ive noticed it in a lot of others to.

Yes, I agree. The mods should take this route. I also like your idea about resetting the post-counts and rep of people who spam alot.
If it was up to me, there wouldn't even be any post-counts.

I've been a member of this forum for almost 2 years, sure i've got a few pages worth of edits, but my only "crime" is that I like humour, i like to cheer people up, i like to express myself in funny ways that are "off topic" or considered "spam" but who really gives a flying fuck, its RARE that I get an edit for flaming, I probably only managed two [edit's] for flaming when Derisor was around!
A forum is supposed to be a place for open discussion, and when you actually get to have any open discussion, its classed as abusing? Well I'm so sorry that I enjoy making people laugh, how about I just start posting complete and utter bullshit about how imbalanced every funking thing (ya, re read that i didnt swear :p) in the game is when I dont actually have a clue cause the only class I play has been overpowered since the start of forever!

Personally I think the rules do need to be tightened up with a few bans thrown around to make be cop the fuck on.But would it not be possible to make an off topic forum where people can post their inane ramblings thus keeping it off the main forums.

Now where in the world would that be approprate for any forum? even an off topic one ? Maybe on one about infantilism or men who like to wear diapers but it's got no place here or in an off topic area. The internet is huge and if people wanna post about their fecal fetishes there are plenty of places better suited to it then the neocron forums.

There are no changes to the policy that now allows people to discuss in-game matters, all we want to do is cut down on the spam. There is only one game that we do not allow discussion of (for various good reasons) and even that policy will be relaxed if and when it receives an official release.
My definition of a spam post (or fragment therein) is one that has no bearing on the conversation at hand. A spam thread is one that does not promote real discussion. Remember that the forum title is "Discuss..."

It could be removed without affecting the discussion in any way (I've left it there for this example). If your thread is just an observation or a comment then try re-wording it such that it provokes discussion. If your thread or post is utter drivel then go to bed.
