KK seems to be on the ball as the first beta patch went up this afternoon. :)

btw, i'm not in the beta, was just seeing if my test server installation was up to date and saw the new directory on the ftp site..
you'd think they would make it secure or something since its a closed beta O_o...
because im pretty sure someone could easily extract whats in the patchs and get loads of info on doy...
I have a feeling those .pat files are fairly useless unless you have the right client to extract it.
Nah, I think you have to install it on the proper client first.

well actually i remember a tool by FBI or someone that allowd you to view the patchs and what they contain...
I decrompressed it, and didnt really get any juicy info :(

The tool that was mentioned only showed the name of files which had been changed. or am i thinking of the wrong one?

Made it quite some time ago, surprised someone remembered it. It basically populates
a listview control by analyzing the "Patchlog.txt" which contains all changes and
additions from patches previously installed by the auto update client. Some just
open the patchlog up but I find my program to make the process alot easier by
having the ability to navigate to each patch number to view it's details with
a couple clicks.
Anyway, maybe some of you will still find it useful.
woah... what I find strange is that, I just checked the About splash screen
on this program and i guess i created it on July 29th, 2003... Almost exactly
a year ago from today... like.. omg, who cares :)
(program has no access to internet aka socket api as seen in a Hex editor
clearly which api's it calls, not to mention if you have xp SP2 or a firewall, it would
flag them when it attempts internet activity, that's how i idenfity perp's :) )

yeah like I didn't know these types of threads would be posted I'm just waiting for the first idoit that is in beta that actully posts some beta content on here for us all Its bound to happen if you consider this community
i can guarentee everyone here that it can be done.
there are people out there that wouldnt have ANY problems at all opening and hacking away at those .pat files.
It just seems like there is noone here that is good enough, luckily i would have to say.
an example of someone who would be good enough for those out there that might recognise the name from FC mod forums.... "BarfHappy".
If you change any files in it the game will say its corrupt :D

Well its nice to hear some beta news whatever it is. It actually brings it home to us that it is actually happening!
Only about a month to go, they should have a countdown clock on here!

Heh, not poking around at anything, if anyone is installing or re-installing Neocron they're going to see that subdirectory on the patch ftp site anyway.
It's not doing any harm, if anything it's hyping the progress of NC2 and keeping/getting people interested. :)
