I have a Pure APU monk (58/61) with capped psi/con/str/dex 31/INT 85(base)
Wearing a PA3
implants psi core
attack 2/3
exp psi controller 3
I have about 66 implant/50 hacking all other pts in INT in psi use.
No other tradeskills..
I am using an all artifact stats holy lightning with capped damage 648% and capped freq 105/min.
Now finally the question....
MY combat rank will not go above 58.
Are all those APU'S with 76-83 combat ratings drugged up/buffed/hybrids ??
My friend recently lommed from APU TO PPU and he had about the same combat rating as me as a APU yet when he pulled his 3 slot holy heal for the first time his combat rating shot up to 75/61

yeah, whats your ppw? most apus with a *** battle rank will have a ppw over 105? i think.

Actually a better question would be what is your APU. I know what my APU is on 76/*** APU but not sure what my PPW is on that char. Plus he has a MC5 chip so it will slightly different stats since i would have 5 less MST then you.

if i remember right my apus ppw is 99 with DS, Psicore, attack 2,3
and i have 66 CR.
i think something like 175 apu 110 ppw gets you good setup rank, though not sure :lol:
though most of the high rank guys you see are hybrids.
with DS, core, APU 2+3 i get 109 ppw and 177 or 178 apu... gives me a 73-75 CR. think you need 110+ ppw for 76+ CR.

Yes i have 175 APU if i remember right. And i still cap HL/FA almost cap holy firestorm and what not.

Atm I got 195 APU, 102 MST and 140 PPW, that gives me a rank of 83/xx, which is the Combatrankcap for pure APUs.
PPW influences rank the most, tho a combination of APU and PPU will also boost rank quite a bit. Neither alone tho does much for rank. For example my ppu has 190 PPU and 80 somthin ppw (i forget exactly), but my rank is only 63/

shelter gives the ppu (and hybrid) a high rank. When my hybrid used his shelter, his rank shot up to 81/ that was 2 psi levels from capping. no DS all arti HL, and about 50ish in hack

That is 2 lvls from capping a APU's rank not a hybrids. You can get a hybrid to around 105 i think that was eled's rank. Can probally go higher then that. Back in the hybrid days you could get to 113 i think it's been awhile.

yar I know, eled was even 114/ for a while I think
and "back in the days" you could easily get 127/ ranks

My guess is that sig uses a PSI 3 setup instead of a melee 3 setup. Not hard to see really i mean why in the hell would he spec 102 MST. Without psi 3 it would be 86 MST along with 175 APU. Exactly the same as mine. But i use a melee 3 instead. Then again thinking about it not sure how he gets 140 PPW then again i dont even know how much my APU has. Does seem high thou.

hmm well since i'm at work i really dont have the time to figure out your setup. And since i really dont like pulling numbers out of my ass and post something that is far off i will leave it how it is for now. But very interesting but since i gave eled back his kami i dont have one to toy with now.

Well i'm home from work now i just threw to gether a few possible setups of sigs. 1 would have 7 points left and the other has 87 points left over. Since i have not seen you for a while you still using PA on your APU?

And she is psi capped. And she has 172 PPU, 88 MST and 104 (or 105 don't know for sure) PPW. How can all my numbers be so much lower then your's?

yeah i was surprised to see that my combat rank didnt go up when i squeezed my monk into a PA.. 57/39 and jusst popped to 57/40. Even tho the damage and rof on the spells went up... I've known that ppw does effect more but not how mutch of it is good for a APU or a PPU.

Yeah i knew you did. That is why the setups i posted was with a kami. Just wasn't sure if you used PA or not.

I do only get 633% on my HL but who cares i like my pool of 389. Candaman what is your PSI pool at with the extra point of APU? Just curious.

You might want to look into using a defensive2 chip instead of the exp3. You end up with less psu, but more points under PSI. It's not as obvious at first glance, but do the math. For example if PPU is say base 130 and PPW is base 90, adding +10 from imp to PPU is the same as giving you +50 points under PSI, wherease adding +15 to PPW would only be +45 points.
Pure monks shouldn't be used Gimptroller's, they wreck your force/tra and end up givin you less points under PSI. That is if you have a DS, there's nothing wrong with a PSI/Exp3/Def2/Def3 setup until you get one, though there are other good setups that don't need gimptroller at all.
