The number 2 in logo's 2,3,4 is too rounded not right for the game and 1 and 5 just don't seem to suit the game as imo the logo should bare some resemblence to the original neocron logo
i went logo 2, looks clean and nice, only thing i could say could improve it would for it to have the (n) symbol from logo 6.

i vote for 6 even it was not easy. 3 and 4 are cool too.
Although logo 5 catches my eye, it does not have a '2' and KK along with the marketing team have decided to make this a sequel. Logo 5 fails to support that decision.
Looking at the box for SW Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, the spire-type object bears a striking resemblance to the one in logo 5. We don't want anyone to have any remote possibility of linking StarWars and Neocron together ever again.
Logo 6 doesn't have the weird '2' font and it continues with the logo style Reakktor already set forth for Neocron during development.

3 reasons...
1: It fits in with the the style of logos past, note the forum logo...

2: The '2' is large and hard to miss being far more important than the 'Beyond Dome of York' as far as publicity is concerned, yes some of the other logos have cool roman numeral type gfx but the plain '2' is more instantly recognised.
3: 'Beyond Dome of York' is bigger than in logos 2,3 and 4 and there is no empty space.

As to how I'd like to see it coloured, it'd be cool to see it start all metalic an shiney at one point then get slowly more rusted and warped as you look across the logo bringing up a comparison between the two cities of Neocron and the Dome.

The logos dont scream starwars at me like the other one, but, with the way theyve done the II thing, it just SCREAMS Quake to me O_o

I like that as well genty but by having a border around the logo in cuts it out of any image behind it, removing the border allows it to sit better over a background in my opinion.
Logo 1 - Yes I did like that, but I dont think the II stands out. It looked like 2 tall buildings or the Quake II logo. Maybe the II would look stand out a lot better when the logo is in full colour.
Logo 2 - Builds on the established Neocron logo, from the first version. This (oddly) is the one I like.
Logo 3 - Again good, but I'm not sure about the face. Again maybe colour could help here. I notice the "2" is different from Logo 2.
Logo 4 - Looks good, but I'm not too sure about the two 'n's being next to each other.
Logo 5 - Hmm the II I think looses it's meaning again.
Logo 6 - Like the original logo, but I just dont like the style of the "2" I think if you took the "2" from logo 2, you will have good logo.

How can you call those two things the same( jedi and nr 1,5)? The only resemblance is the fact that its made up out of two halfs. The new logo has the parts mirrored , has the text centered . It has no such thing as a circle or anything else for that matter and the length compared to the width is different aswell. So enlighten me how can you call that a rip off?

I vote number 4. While it does'nt look the best it gets a much better point accross.
Think about this..... you walk in a shop having previously bought neocron and didnt like it and you see a logo saying "Neocron :BDoY" you would think "oh a mere addon to an already shit game". Or, you walk in having previously bought neocron and see a logo saying "Neocron 2 : BDoY" *note the 2* you would most likely think "oh neocron 2...hmm, i wonder if they fixed it and made it good"
I like 1, 5 and 6.
1: Waaaay too big, but would be good as a downloadable wallpaper or such
5: Very nice, similar to 1's design but is alot more compact, though I'm not sure if everyone will get the whole II thing, it doesn't look a huge amount like the JK logo, more like the quake II logo, but even then its not as bad as the fucking SW logo. :p
6: Good... but it looks like the 2 was stapled on as an afterthought.

Why does every instantly seem to dismiss logos just because there is a TINY chance it looks SLIGHTLY like a logo from another game/series/film/whatever.
Can we not just take logos for what they are, small images that represent something bigger.
I just want to thank KK for listening to us on this and coming up with something less disastrous than the SW one.
I'm still deciding though as they are all good.

I like the idea of having a "2" in there.
Somehow I see the "2"s in 2, 3 and 4 as "S"s. I like them other than that. The "2" in 6 is too ugly.
I voted for 5 because it looks most striking to me but would rather it had a more obvious "2" in there somehow.
It does look a bit like the quake logo but it's not the 100% rip-off the SWG one was and it can't hurt to make quake-addicts pick up the box and take a look.

Ah what i said was already said on this page. Someone with some form of common sense and @ everyone else the II isnt distinctive what so ever.
Given the alternatives, I think #5 is best.
However, the text "BEYOND - DOME - OF - YORK" is bothering me....
Try to stretch the text a little bit horizontally, instead of just increasing the spacing.
The current font size and boldness makes it look tiny and soft with that spacing in my opinion, especially when put up against the main text and that massive shape.
EDIT: Hmm.. looking at it more I don't know... it is something...
Need to do something about the 'II' in logo #5 though.

as hes brother and fellow graphic designer i compleatly agree. the fonts cant mix and match u need to resemble the typography. use the origional logo as a template to the new logo. Also dont call it neocron 2. i dont care whos silly enopugh to ask stupid questions its not a sequal, its an expansion. so use the first logo and add dome of york to it in a clever way ffs. no offense but all those logos dont do the game justice.

One thing I am wandering, It is nearly a month away from release and I still do not see any ads. So what is the logo's good for. KK dont make the same mistake again, we want new players around, make advertisements, go to IGN, go to PC Gamer, Go to EGM, Hit those magazines that people read, Do it, do it now. Go out to different gaming website. Save Neocron and save yourselves. You will get soo much better results when you advertise and possibly choosen the right publisher. CDV was an major mistake. Dont make the same mistake twice. I am also in the entertainment buz. Both film and gameing, Ive probally ben there and bone that even though there are lots of things that is still not did.

The '2' is cool, but it might me out of place, I don't know.
Anyway, my other modifications without the '2' are still good I think. At least if you think about the "bdoy" text.
The original text is too thin and the aspect of the text doesn't really fit (the text needs to be stretched more horizontally to fit the style of the main Neocron text).
However, the '2' does balance the picture out quite nice... hmm.. difficult :p

An as for you people screaming about how the logo looks like Star wars/HL /etc might i remind you of all the BS that PCGamer was pumping out about how the Neocron box art was ripping half-life off with the colour of Opp-force and having a guy who looks a bit like gordon freeman on the front!?

i would get rid of the shape as it destroyed the good rounded shape of a logo and it is a bit jedi. then take away the > as it means nothing. have the work neocron. under it have beyond dome of york in a thiner / finer version of the font neocron is in and increase the kerning so that it stretches the length of the word neocron. then using a font that looks similar to the logo have the 2 at the end with its hight equal to the rest of the logo such as in the other logos. i just hate the font the 2 is in in the previous ideas.

One thing I am wandering, It is nearly a month away from release and I still do not see any adsI suspect Reakktor is counting on vets to transition to the new servers first, then advertise in October/November. My guess would be that they want to work out bugs and load issues on the faithful and the born-agains, then when they think it's ready they'll tell the rest of the world.
That's if they even launch on 9/1. Based on track record, they won't.

Regarding the StarWars resemblance... there is none.. it's getting like compulsory thoughts at this stage... many have such shapes.
Since the first one resembled the SWG logo, now all go crazy on any shape that might remotely resemble something that has to do with StarWars.

#5: The symbol is a bit starwars/jedi like, but the off centre placement helps it to stand out and be different.
PS- It is fine without the "2" added to it. When I see a gaming product for the first time in a store, I assume it is stand alone. But I also check the box for the little " you will need product X to play" note to make sure I don't need to buy more crap. As for here in Toronto, Canada, very few people seem to know about Neocron, (Which BTW, is a sad state of affairs. :( ) so are unlikely to get confused.

yeah but it's too hard to notice. Subtility can be good, but that's plain invisible to most, and even after some are being told about it, they still don't see it. I still think the modified one i quoted (with the times 2 and BDOY prompt) is the best.
I like logo number 4, expcet the 2 reference. If the Neocron 2 was replaced with plain Neocron, I'd have voted for it. For that reason I voted for number Logo 5, although still has 2 in it;) Not really a prob., though.

if u read what isaid i didnt say the 2 shouldnt be there i said the 2 wasnt implemented properly. being a graphic designer none of those logos would be right in my opinion. after reading what people said i accept the 2 is going to be there so thats why i said the way its been implamented into that logo is wrong. read what i wrote closer and u will see what im saying.

To be honest, I think we need a professional to modify these logos. I like Logo #7, its teh dogs bollocks (thats a GOOD thing by the way ;))
But to be honest, I think we need Parax to design some stuff for KK, hes by far the best graphic designer on the forums, possibly in the entire Neocron community..... I mean, just look at the VotR logos he did, with the Johnny 5 and what not. And then the VotR wallpaper he did, he's truely brilliant. Nuff said gg no re kthxbye kos roflmfao :wtf:

Now, in my opinion, I think that Lineage 2 logo is MUCH easier to make out. Thus making it (kind of) a better logo.

how come its taken this long for KK to change it ? we all said in the forums it was a star wars ripp off and looked shit?
Lets look at the time scale here like 3 months ago they show the new Logo, only now are they thinking/working on a new Logo. Fair enuff its a Logo and not top of the list of things to do, but this is the case with most of KK's work E.G patches and patches to fix patches, implementing new weps/class changes/wep caps (Psi hybrid nerfs till apu wep cap change)/ clan missions/clan wars........ the list goes on, with BDOY only 1-2 months away things like this should have been set in stone and a advert or two showing the logo would have done this.
My point is this, Neocron by now should have had a lot of this resolved and the smaller things like floating trees and grafitti fixed, but its not and it leaves me feeling used and abused. What i have payed to play since Sept 02 has been no more than a Beta. Milked like the silly cow i am heheh, heres hoping BDOY has been worth the extra development time the player base has bought it........

This will be said about every possible logo they ever present. Graphic artists always hate everything that wasn't made by them or their mates and if they don't know their mates did it they'll hate that too.
Decent design for a logo doesn't equal fancy graphics.
A logo needs to be suitable for a black and white image as well. By this I really mean black and white, no grayscales.
I've said this many times before but nobody listens.
There are indeed quite many good logos concerning various things on these forums. But take most of them, convert it to black and white and you'll see.
Take my TGM jewel for example... it sucks if you convert it.. it isn't good for a logo... it's just fancy art. I wouldn't dream of putting that on a t-shirt or coffee cup... Simply because you would never see what it is without effort.
A logo should represent the game's name in a very simple form. Just by glancing at it you should pick up the name and optionally some shape that you would assosiate with the game.
And no offense whatsoever please... I'm just stating a point for a true and viable logo's sake.

I think unless the logo is done with sloppy cursive handwriting then most people will typically say it looks like Star Wars . it looks like Star Trek . . . It looks like robotech . .it looks like Macross . .it looks like Transformers :p
No it's not the fact that when you think fututaristic those types of things sorta come into your mind as guidelines .lol. too pointly it's a light saber .. too curved . . with points through it . .it's Quake!

i voted for 5 cause i think it looks the best. I dont really get where yall keep comin from with all these " it looks like they stole it from....!!!" shit, one person says somethin and everyone agrees. I would have never thought it even resembled any other game logo because they dont period. Yall just like to criticize everything till theres shit to criticize cept each other. Now I dunno about yall but in logo number 5, those things are actually a stylish romian numeral for "2" . So I dont think theres a need for the number 2 since its already there
I like .02 and .06. They have a "sequel feel" to them in that they somewhat match the NC1 logo (see the top of the forum :p), yet are simple and say that hey, it's NC2.

You are not supposed to compare that it is a rippoff from this or that. As long as it is simple and look good that is all that it matters.

I know this probably won't catch KK's eye and won't matter at all, but here's another idea I had. As it seem a simple logo is what would suffice. Something you could put on shirts, on sites, on the box. A suggestion... nontheless.

I love how everyone is griping about the logo. Here's an idea KK, how about you stop worrying so much about a logo 1 and 1/2 months before release and maybe get some advertising out there??? There should be advertising in all the EB's, Game Stop's etc. etc. but I see nothing. I honestly could care less about a logo, it's not what I'm going to be looking at while playing DoY. I understand about listening to the community but, really.....take the original NC logo, put BDoY underneath and bingo...logo done. Then make sure the game is done by Sept. o_O

yeah I agree, just thought with the neocron circle symbol that might work out really well, I can see if I can brainstorm a way to make the 2 still be simple and easily visible.

I've posted a poll in a different thread to see if anyone would like to see one or more of the logo's I have created added to the "official" list of logo's. Feel free to go vote and make your voice heard!
