When are these going to get sent out? Beta starts in 3 days. And it's a 2 gig download. And is KK going to host the file or is fileplanet or something like that?

2 days and 7 hours till DOY Beta starts, so its about 2 days 7 hours (give or take a few hours) that the emails should be sent out for people to start downloading the client. I'd guess KK will host the beta client, would be too much of a hassle to stop people downloading it from other places and looking at content n stuff.

Would it not be smart to send out the emails before beta actully starts so people can get the client. Makes since to me. Would also releave some pressure from the file server. Considering some people would not download that second if beta dont start for a few days.

I think the emails wont go out until the beta server is live. So we are most likely looking at Monday for both of them.
I agree with Jest (have done quite a lot recently, wonder why :angel: ) there would be no point in downloading the client if the servers are not up and ready for the client to connect to. For me personally, 2gig would take about 9 hours to download (60-65kps) others a lot less time (lucky buggers) and on a 14.4 (<3 hinch) forget it, game would be released by the time your 1% done :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yes but with more people trying to download the file it would slow everyone else down. They could easily release the client for download and then not bring the server up untill monday.

Edit: If they have good bandwidth i usually get around 300k to 400k speeds :)

Would not be the smartest thing to do. You would have basically waste a few hours of the short beta. Because everyone would be downloading the client instead of testing the game.

second Beta phase starts 2 weeks after 19. (where only volu helpers and a few community members are allowed)
and I think they don't want to waste time at 19. with ppl downloading Client/receive the NDA from them
so the winner of the contest have ~1 week time to sign a NDA, send it back to KK and downloading the BDoY client

AFAIK IIRC TBH OC1 & OC192 are umm, Orange Cans (tin cans) and the number is the lenght of the cans, i.e. OC1 = 1 meter OC192= 192 meters, but you need damn good string between the two OC's for that speed! (in other words, I dont got a clue :p)
OC = Optical Carrier
OC1 = ~52Mb/s
OC192 = 800Gb/s
porbs on monday morning so avoid in as much way as possible fakes or between no and monday people may make fakes and send them as "late" entries type of thing...

OC-3 - 1 minute 44 seconds

although to be fair its really much lower numbers unless you have gigabit ethernet, or fiber :), from your oc-whatever to your comp, in my case all i have is fast ethernet (100megaBITSs == 12.5megaBYTES/second) so asuming i get maximum transmission of 11.5 megabytes a second (yah right) it will still take 2 hours 40 minutes :( oh welll....
