View Full Version : [OT] I came, I saw, I TWITCHED
So... while waiting for the BDoY trailer I might as well share what just happened.
By now, you all might be aware of my mad athletic skills. All from throwing ice cream into a girls hair, to crashing into parked bikes when seeing a woman's behind.
However, this time I might just have broken my own record.
First some background information.
Here in Sweden we more or less use the following type of door knob exclusively:

While for example in the US and UK I've seen more of the round knob types.
The type we are using is pretty failsafe, if your hands are oily or wet you can still open the door.
However, they have one drawback. If you pass too close to a door and have a shirt with sleeves that aren't buttoned you are in danger of getting stuck in the door.
Now with this background information cleared I'll start telling what happened.
It is kind of blurry, but I'll try my best.
I woke up this morning, all excited about the BDoY trailer. I proceeded to ingest my breakfast. Also, I drank a lot of coffee.
At work, I then got another coffee.
Now, there is this girl here that started to work for us like this week or something. She is really really cute.
About the time I had finished my coffee at work I went over to get another coffee. I filled my cup with coffee and started to walk back towards my desk.
On the way I met a colleague and we stopped to talk about some work related issue.
By this time, I had positioned myself comfortable very close to a door which lead into an office.
Just as my colleague walked away, this girl came over and said "Hi, I believe we haven't been properly introduced".
Now then...
I stand next to this door right, with my right arm against the door and its handle. I'm also wearing a shirt with unbuttoned sleeves (trendy and etc etc).
Also, I have the coffee cup in the right hand.
Now, since you greet with your right hand, I wanted to transfer my cup to my left hand.
However, being all excited and wound up, plus the fact that she is so damn fit I only managed to produce some sort of twitch with my right arm.
This twitch would on its own at maximum have produced some spilled coffe on the floor. But... the twitch was kind of a forward and sideways motion, so what happens.
Yes, you guessed it... My arm got stuck in the door. This, combined with the twitch made the law of physics apply to the contents of my coffee mug.
The contents were now heading for this poor girl who hadn't even remotely begun to grasp what the fuck I was doing.
This is not all however.
On some subconscious level I must have thought "coffee hot, coffee on girl bad. omg must protect girl". So instictively I want to take a step forward to catch the coffee (how the crap I would manage that I don't know, but ok).
However, I am still stuck in the door right. So instead of managing to take a step forwards I loose my balance and crash back into the closed door, where my arm is still stuck.
This could all have ended here... but noooooo... not for phunqe.
When I crashed into the door, I managed to apply just the right amount of pressure to the door knob that it opened the door. Since I had lost my balance and the door was supposed to catch me, but it didn't, I just crashed to the floor when the door flung open.
To top this off, since my sleeve was still stuck in the handle it got ripped apart as well.
So what did we have?
This girl with coffe on her pants.
Me laying down on the floor with my shirt torn apart.
I think a passing by colleague put it quite nicely "How the FUCK did you manage this".
I concur.

Good thing I had a spare geek Mac OS X T-Shirt laying around :p
Anyway... I'm just sitting here now, twitching... waiting for the trailer...
And yes, I'm still going to ask her out at some point.
She began to laugh so I guess that is a good sign yes? :(

Anyway, it is all cool thank you. I mean I will be the object of mockery for the rest of the year here, but all had a blast, including her.
I feel quite relieved that I work in a place where people do enjoy the occasional major screwup :)

Reminds me of this time I was talking to a freind on these swings (I was 15 at the time) and this girl I really fancied, walks past but I didnt notice her, shes talking to her freind and didnt notice me so basically I accidently kicked her full on in the side of the head and fell off the back of the swing with shock...
