I was bored this evening so I created a new login screen. here ya go:

Just download it and copy the .bmp file into your \neocron\gfx\mainmenu\ folder.

well, it worked fine for me. did you take the menubackdrop_1024x768.bmp? i just copied it into the gfx\mainmenu folder and it worked.


perhaps you're playing in window mode or in greater solutions than 1024.

Just copy the bmp into the mainmenu folder, there should be nothing else yet.

do i have to change the file name to something specific? cos when i downloaded it, its just called login_f.

then you've downloaded the presentation jpg. just click on the picture and it'll will start downloading the following file:

Ah... worked out why it doesn't work. I'm running in a resolution lower than 1024x728. I'll try it with that and see...

Yeah, either that or just change your resolution in the neocron settings.

I'm going to keep the resolution and see how it affects FPS, but if its too bad then I'll just have to resize the file.

Colour depth has an impact, massive one on the higher resolutions, that's when you notice the difference, especially on the less powerful systems;

16x1024x768 > 32x800x600 (not really but example).

There will be less of a detrimental effect on your computer at 1600x1200x16 than at 1024x768x32 though...

Pity my screen can't really do that kinda rezz since my system can :p

Yes it does, it needs to render more and finer pixels, which equals taking more CPU, which also equals slowing down your PC, and finally, that equals dropping the frames which get rendered per second. Faster processor equals less Frame Drop. :o

I really don't notice any FPS in- or decrease when switching between different resolutions. Only reason because I'm not running in 1600 is because I couldn't read he text :x

It's a noticable difference on lower end systems, for example, I'm playing on 1024x768 resolution, but I actually get way better performance from Neocron if I were to play under 800x600 (With way better I mean approximately twice the amount of frames per second).
