i remember back in beta there was alot of talk about mechs, they where
gona hit retail or something. Well im fairly sure im not that blind that i just
havent noticed them, sooooo what happened? Are the still in some weird and
very long pipeline? or are they just something that was ment to be but never
will be.....
......fairly sure there was a pic of one somewhere on the forums couldnt find
it tho. If anyone has it could they plz post it n_n

Mechs were a discontinued item.MJS posted a while ago(think it was last august) that they were going to be post doy but still in. If that has changed, it would have been nice to have been told.

you dont need mechs... we got PA for all classes and vehicles, even flying ones now. This is one of the few thigs I can say be quiet and give KK a break on. Besids, I wanna be able to run around and PK, I already have ppus running out and ruining my fun, all I need is for a damn mech to start comming out and ruiing the fun......

oh we sorry, *waves @ kk* never mind about the mechs Vet don't want them,..... I think mechs would be pretty kewl, u can still run around and pk mech would be same as tank.....

Mechs could be the PEs "toy". The seem to be pushing as at vehicles anyway right? have a couple of levels of them , make some implants...
wow, felt a hint of extreme excitement at something to do with neocron.
AV Tanks would be our natural predator... it opens up all kinds of new ways to balance some of the classes!

Mecs were kinda just an iodea hinted apon a while back, and then all these Mech nuts poped out from the cracks once they heard the woprd and started hyping it up like it was officialy announced as a deffinate :P
Not quite shure how well it would fit, its almost as dumb as the group of people that wanted ninjas in NC, why in every mmorpg is there some group who wants to ruin it with Ninjas.
Also what makes everyone think its gonna be Dext based and not Str or Int based :P (dont gime the bull that "U dont need Str to drive things, in the same sence u really dont need much Dext, i mean, how hard is it to drive a car ^^ if anything its a Bigger version on a Tanks PA, or maby you need to be really smart to control it :P
lol ;P But really i dont knwo how well these fit into the game, it was more or less just hyped up liek it was happening my the Mechwarroier fans or something :P

ok then, since we're aiming for a cyberpunk (BT is a bit to technologically advanced for a post apoc setting) lets try an old favorite- this is a.. well, better pic of a toy I bought a Helluva long time ago (I still have it somewhere "goes to find it") anyways, its an exosuit from exo squad "AKA old ass american mech cartoon" enjoy

On a more serious note... although it would be cool to have a Thanatos, Wizkids might have something to say about it (they hold the copyrights on the actual mecha...)
We could put in something like the A.P.U. from Matrix:Revolutions, an exo-suit with big-assed guns and an open frame cockpit. That's VERY cyberpunk.
In fact a lot of cyberpunk games have Mecha/PA/walkers/boomers/whatever the hell the game designers call their's: Bubblegum Crisis, Cyberworld, Cyberpunk 2020, HardWired, Dues Ex (cyberpunkish, they have walker bots and a mecha in the end...) ect...

-CronoMechs were said to be coming in early beta, they were in a plan file right after launched, they were mentioned again in january 2003, and again in 2nd quarter 2003 as being "coming but not soon".

id take the MKI over the MKII anyday, the MKII's hard points were all screwed and it had none of the style or finesse that the first one had
maybe, but i need the extra tonnage to get the dbl clan gauss and still have decent armour and fast firing weapons.
personal preferance really.

Gah, Gimme Elementals dude, too bad they dont work the way there supposed too (Jump jet on top of atlas, use fusion cutter to open atlas cockpit, use machine gun on pilot in atlas cockpit :D ) I read that in a MW book once, sounded badass :D
Well, now that we're talking about Battletech/Mechwarrior
Bah, one good streak SRM and an elemental is a little smear on the ground.
In the video games the Mad Cat kicks serious arse... in the board game much less so. My favorite heavy mech has to be the Thanatos, good weapon balance, andthe 360* torso rotation is a lifesaver when you get surrounded by little shits like Dashers (firemoths) or Cougars.
My favorite light class is the Cougar, because it can mount a PPC on a light mech, or dual medium ER pulse lasers.
In the medium class my money goes on the Uziel, dual PPCs churning out 30 points of damage in one turn, enough to blow an arm or leg off a Madcat with a good hit.
In the heavy, Thanatos, or Tiberwolf model A (Madcat Mark I).
And in the Assault class, you're talking the Awesome... just watch your heat and you've got a linkedfire main attack that can punch through an Uziel's chestplate and blow its core in one hit. The Daishi is also descent, when you have to worry about the 30 heat per turn on the Awesome. As long as the ammo holds out on the Daishi it can blow through anything.

Me, celt and Clive were talking about Battletech, and it's computer game versions, Mechwarrior and Mech Assault. A series of MEch games made by FASA (The people that brought you Shadowrun :cool: ) now owned by Wizkids/Fanpro...
Omnituens had pictures of a lego version of what I belive is Metal Gear Rex, from the PS1 game Metal Gear Solid, and one from Zone of Ender I belive (an Anime)

REX is from MGS1 on the PS1, and was uber
RAY is from MGS2 on the PS2, and was crap in comparison to REX
Both are walking battle tanks, with REX being equipped with a rail gun capable of firing a stealth nuclear missle, and RAY being a Anti-Metal Gear Metal Gear, developed by the Marine corp.
REX was harder to beat than RAY imo, i've taken down 20 RAYs in a row without getting hit once. its hard to do the 1 REX on MGS without getting hit on the same difficulty.
Zone of the Enders is a PS2 game and is absolutly excellent, and it came with a demo of MGS2 :lol:
On other Mech-related PS games; Front mission 3 anyone? and soon, FM4?
FM3 was so good i played it for 15 hours straight :eek:
Its turn based strategy, so its not up everyones street, but if you like big mechs (or Wanzers as they are called) its a good game. FM4 looks the win.
Yes, FM3 = best game on PS1, even better then FF7 imo.
FM4 is getting a bit of a slating in the reviews, but I dont care ive been waiting for it sooooooo long.

i think a mech should requre 75 int to drive
the right arm should requier a tank, 90 str high heavy and technical, and should consist of a laser beam or a rocket launcher
the left arm should have a dex 70 based riful combat, with a laser beam or sniper type gun
then everybody can have a go (apart from evil pistol ppl, my meele tank hybreeds to use heavy weps at 150 and i still cap meele hehe
u can either drive it, or man a turret :P (arm)
the arms should be SLOOOOOW turning and turn with arrow keys and mouse for up and down,
it could be a real team wepon
and masive amour, but be totaly trashed with anti vhiecle rocket launcher.
