Low Tech Melee Rare “Katana”

I made this katana for another project of mine; I’m no longer using it so I would gladly donate it to KK. I can’t remember the total poly count, but it is under 100 for the unsheathed katana, and just a little over for the version W/ sheath. Both have a texture of 128x256 and are available in .3ds and .max formats. As for a first person version, I could whip that up with ease. So what do you think? Yippy or nippy?

nice work, but no, there already too many melee rares... there should only be 3, BoC, PoB, and DG... below BoC should be non rares. The rare pool is already too cluttered. Plus, IF it went in it should come with tokyo 2 expansion.... in 2007.
Well it dosnt have to come in as a rare, could be a high level non rare (hitting the PE market)
We need some more lowtech automatic pistols the kind that fires 3 shot bursts :)
Nah theres enough melee rares, but they should change the tai-chi sword model so that it looks oriental rather then a european broad sword like BoC and the others.
Spies arnt real people :rolleyes:

Not cyberpunk, at all.... it's a nice model, but I don't think Neocron really needs more melee weapons, especially low tech melee weapons.
This is the future, we need more guns.
@ Max Jefferson - Good point; but I don't think Neocron is done in a very fictional sense. Personally I think all classes need more diversity in their weapon choices.

Personally I think all classes need more diversity in their weapon choices.Fair enough, but I think if katanas were to be added, they should be part of a large addition of weapons, Neocron lacks diversity at the moment, 1 or 2 new weapon ranges for Dex and Str would be nice.
True, as much as I enjoy the fact the dev and the rav were introduced to tanks I still feel that theres not a whole lot of selection.

I say add a Dex based melee range and put grenages and throwing knives under that catagory :p

Personally, I think something like this should be experimented with using the strange books. It's primary use is to look quite kick ass, so that makes it cool for testing something like that.
Yes if PEs could use it or if it was a PE only weapon. I dont want to sound selfish but tanks just got two new melee weapons ;)

Yeah my katana was sorta squished down to fit in my game... but length can be added to it in a few secounds. Also that katana your showing has a very narrow handle compaired to the one mines modeled after.

i dont see why there are many, theres 6 (mebbe 7...), which is about the same as rare rifles, HC weapons and pistols....

Not all PEs like drugging, but that's no reason to ignore the majority who do.

the only type of PE that can be a JOAT is a MC PE, anyother has to put all his Dex into his respective weapon and agilty, theres VERY little left to play with. Int theres a little more left to play with but if you want 100 hack, you might struggle to cap aiming on anything above a PE...
oh and if a PE is a JOAT why cant he stealth? or use another clasess PA?
PEs aren't JOATs, but if we go by that desciption, they're not specialised enough to use stealth or other classes PAs. The true actual answer, is simply that Spy PA or stealth overpowers PEs.
Personally, I'm against PEs getting their own toys because for the longest time they've leeched every toy the Spy has ever got, and combined it with stronger defence. They never needed stealth, yet it was abused by almost every PE. Now, I honestly think the Libby/Judge/PE/RoG PEs could use some form of a boost, given that everyone is running around with CS/Exec/Slasher/PoB/HL/HL/blessed buffs/holy buffs these days. But it most definitely should not be in the form of a PE only toy.

low damage and high rof would be more fitting to a DEX based weapon, the idea is its fast and light, gentle slices to make your opponent suffer from blood loss rather than an out and out slug to take his head off. The weapon youre referring to sounds more akin to a DG or a BoC.
