View Full Version : How do you make a PvP Rifle Spy?

I'm getting sorta bored with my melee Tank and I wanted to try something totally different, so I wanted to be a Rifle Spy but good at PvP at the same time (well, as good as a Spy can be).

Just I'm pretty clueless as to how to setup one in terms of implants, armor (I can probably do this :p), and setup-wise. Tanks are so easy to setup tbh, but with Spy's, little things like how much AGL and Rifle, how much ATH and HLT with resists, how much TRA and FOR... I don't know where to start and end. I'd also like to know if it's possible to be effective in PvP and still be good at a few tradeskills, like poking or repairing or would that gimp me too much?

I was hoping some Spy experts can come in here and show me the way. :D
I was orginally gonna try droning but that is too much a pain in the ass. ;)

well, first you get a spy, then get a rifle, and shoot ppl :p j/k

actuly i used to have a good one, you use a kamis, make yourself run REALY fast, i druged to use the shelter ( forgot his setup, but it was a kamis setup with like almost caped runspeed), and i droped tanks in like 3 seconds with FL with that setup....

Look, if you don't wanna help that's okay, just don't come in and say use a kami, run fast, and use a rifle and then get all pissy at me when I say I don't want to use a Kami (though you're probably joking).

I'm not an expert, but here's a word of advice.

Range and stealth. Close combat is not necessarily good, that's where tanks and apus dominate. Use the element of suprise and the accuracy of your weapons. You can't take much damage no matter how well you setup your con and chips.

Strenght : 75 transport and 75 resist force. Can carry 98. I wear battle armor 2 and rifle PA2 atm.

Redflash adds ath and agility, so you need 60/60 if you want to be sure to be as fast as you can.

Don't put too much Health, 60 maybe. NO endurance, your PA takes it away, a big waste unless you got one of the early anti-radiation suits. Put in fire resists and some energy and wear the best energy belt you can find.

My spy currently has Exp. ballistic 3, motoric 3, SF and SA, uses rifle eye 3 and uses stealth 3 and a disruptor or silent hunter with redflash. When i cap i probably will exchange the moto for a moveon for the added stenght and health. If you gimp enough you can put a str booster 2 and a pp chip to use inq1 armor and have good resists, but you lose alot of RC in the process. Depends if you fight close or far.

Use anti-gamma bones to get maximum xray protection, and they have a little lowers reqs than advanced bones. If one day you can use exp. bones (if you gimp alot) they could be worth the added bonuses.

As for weapons .. tech rifles for sure. First love does massive damage and you can hit cloaked people but is shorter ranged and much less accurate (not counting heavy recoil). Disruptor has uber range and accuracy, heavy damage but not as much as first love and no recoil AT ALL.

This is the best i can offer :)

If you have an SF and SA in, you cannot put in only a moveon+pp alongwith your str booster 2, because it'll still not be sufficient str for inq/dura 1. You'll also need a zerk 2, so thats = SF/SA/Moveon/Zerk2/Strbooster2.

You need 49 str for the lvl 1 inq setup, not 46. With 46, you'd just be able to wear the light inq boots, but no helmet or trousers, which are 49 and 48 respectively.

This setup should only be used when capped...

Imps: SA, SF, DW3, M.O.V.E on
RC Eye 3
Str Heart 2
Psi Gauntlet
Str Booster 2

Armour: All Inq 1, cept Heavy energy belt/spy pa 3.

Bones: All exp/BQ, cept advanced leg.

Drugs: Beast, Redflash, Night Spider

Carry a rec glove with you ALWAYS, as you use it to jump start your PA on.

Get at least 180 WEP, 195 R-C, 95 T-C and over 100 AGL.

You want about 95 or so HLT, about 85 ATL, everything else into FIR/ENR resists.

Get enough PPU/MST to use basic shelter, everything else into PPW.

Most of your PSI pool will come from PSU, so spec quite a lot - at least 100 overall I'd say.

Split STR points evenly across FOR/TRA.

And that's it.

go cap one and then ask in 6 months when youve grinded it out, lol. I couldnt make a spy setup work until full cap.

Saza's isnt a bad one, you dont need an SA though, and I used a cyber eye 4.

infact, i probably say I fought worse with an SA because i was always worried about getting its knocked out and not finding a poker - i played pluto tho lol.

Hi Gen :p

I would recommend the SA, as you end up losing 9 R-C when you take it out (5 from the imp, and another 4 cuz you cant use PA 3 anymore) .

I use a similar (not exactly the same :)) setup for my pistol spy, and it's easily been the best setup I've ever used. I can take out most spies, quite a lot of PE's, some tanks, and a few APU's.

The key point in any spy setup is to specialise. Don't be to general, or you'll suffer bad. If you're going combat, spec exactly the right amounts so you can use as many items as possible, and also cap them. No point going combat unless you can do this. And always use shelter. You're cannon fodder if you don't.

No hacking specified? No belt-hacking when you've finally killed the prey?

I agree. I did have 103 base hack and i think 53 PSI use.

If I were to still have my spy, i would probably invest my time into the controversial spirit modded SH setup, and try to work it so that I could keep INQ 1 setup.

edit :/ I personally loved Heat Modded RoG, and still think it was the best rifle for my spy because it was so easy to cap and give you point allocation elsewhere.

well when i was rifle the best thing to do is ninji hack the first layer of a clan op and get out my sh and shoot them

ahahah sh > templars bawahahah

u should try it very funny :)

or just lom to pistol and become a tradeskiller

edit - best op to do is jerkio because its more open with some places to hide ....... and use sealth O_o
