View Full Version : [OT] How do you reset your Internet Explorers Default Home Page?
I have some spammy search site as my default homepage.
Anyone know how to reset it to Blank?

Search your registry for the website in question (regedit). I'm sure something will turn up, just edit that key to, say, www.google.com.
Also run Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy, and use Spybot's innoculation feature.
Last but not least, if you run Internet Explorer you're begging for stuff like this to happen.
you can go into "tools" -> "internet options" -> then it´s the first text field..
but some internet spammies have a million regedit entries.. and will just change it back.. you can go delete all these entries.. but if it has an exe in the windows folder, then they will just come back over and over and over.

Anyone know how to reset it to Blank?Using Internet Explorer: "Tools" >> "Internet Options" >> "Use Blank".
--Stryfe

That doesn't alter the default though.
How do you access your registry?
*edit*
found it. What happens if I delete everything in it? It's full of stuff.
open start menu -> run -> type "regedit"
then it opens the registry database..
then you search for the "internet spam addy" and then you delete the strings that contain this value.
if you delete something wrong.. some of your programs / games or even windows ´MIGHT´ stop working.

Registry field you're looking for is...
My computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Start Page string (Near bottom of list), change it to whatever you want.
run an updated version of AdAware, that will kill the wee bastards!
Thanks mumblyfish.
Thanks all. :)
