[FIRST IDEA]
It might just be me, but I'd like to see more customization in character creation. I know they plan some new customization for player looks with DoY but before doy I would love to see them to redo the current subclasses and maybe even add new weapons to give more diversity.

What I mean is this:
When selecting the spy class you are prompted if you wish to specialize in:
----
Long Range Attack
Short Range Attack
Remotely Controlled Attack Drones
Tradeskill
Other
--
Clicking Long Range attack would then take you to a subclass screen that would offer types of rifling options.
--
High Tech Rifle Attack (Starts you off with a "Unfocused Laser Rifle")
Low Tech Rifle Attack (Starts you off with a "Lazar Rifle")
High Tech Rapid Fire Attack(Starts you off with a "Defunct Plasmatic Rifle")
Low Tech Rapid Fire Attack(Starts you off with a "Factory Reject Tangent Assault Rifle")
Other (Would give you a choice of the rifles plus maybe a couple other choices including a "Hand Made Sniper Rifle")
--
If you pick pistol it would be similar choices cept pistols instead of rifles If you clicked tradeskill you would be given the options of starting with your choice of the tradeskill tools: remote imper, self imper, cnst'r, ress'r, recycler, and salvager.
--
If you clicked PSI you would be prompted to be either:
--
APU
PPU
Other
--
If you chose APU you would get a chance to pick:
--
Fire Handler (Starts you off with a "Crahn Spark")
Energy Manipulator (Starts you off with a "Crahn Zap"[I cant think of another name])
Venom Master (Starts you off with a "Crahn Snake Bite")
Other (Would give you a choice of the spells plus maybe a couple other choices including a "Crahn Force Attack"[like Psi Attack 1])
[/FIRST IDEA]

Well that was that idea, and about half way through that idea i got another idea.

[IDEA Two]
This idea I like to call "Buy your Starting Equip". When you choose your class, you then goto a window to pick your skills, which I think should have a little help window at the bottom when you hover over each skill just incase someone doesnt know what a skill does and it should recommend certain skills that you would need if you were to be a rifle or pistol user. After you pick your skills you should then be taken to a window which tells you that you have 1,200 CR and warns you if you choose to spend any of it buying alternative equipment you may not be able to immediatly GR out of Mc5( but this is supposed to be gone with DoY ).
And I do not want this to be a vendor window, Im talking about in character creation, another applet type thing. It should give you small menus to choose from like Rifles, Pistols, Tradeskiller equipment, and Armor if you are a spy. And you should be able to buy maybe a Lazar Rifle or hopefully other types of nice noob weapons And maybe 400 CR for A complete set of noob amour( those new noob armors like wiremesh or leather ) That will give you 500 CR left for Ammo or Alternate weapons.
[/IDEA Two]

:] thats it

I like it. So long as the Noob can always leave MC5 instantly if they want, with equipment. So maybe give them 2200 credits. 1200 for cheap equipment and 1000 for the genrep. Or just make that particular genrep free and keep it to 1200.

That genrep has always mystified me.

I've always preferred simply making it dependant on which skills are the highest in your two primary stats.

For example, a spy could choose to go for say, rifle combat and construction, if these are his/her highest skills, he/she'd start off with a lazar rifle, some ammo, and a tl 30 construction tool. As well as "standard" equipment for his/her class, in the case of a spy, a light energy-field belt and some random booze.

I'd write up a full list, but I'm currently a bit too busy for that.

I think you should be able to choose your starting equiptment, at the moment a newbie has no idea what he's starting with, customises his skills, enters MC5 and finds that they cant use any of the stuff theyve got.

five stars ( i jsut mentioned this in a threead 2 mins ago)

A person new to the game probably starts with liek 10 repari 2 psi reists 5 weapons lore... its lame... and cant be that hard to change even if its simple change.

Yes the 2nd idea is great but i dont think it will be don eb4 DOY. Maybe if u start with money in MC5 and u lose it when u GR.

As soon as u log in u get one of those tool tip things and u have to scroll down to close it. Make it interesting though.

I like both ideas very much.

Currently as a noob you have no idea what items your gonna start with and prolly don't understand how each class works either, so i think both of these would defo be a good addition to the character creation :)

BTW forgot to mention something in Idea 2.
I stated it should be AFTER skill selection so it would give you options only which you could use. And at a bottom area it should state "Some Items may not appear due to choices made in skill selection.
If you would like to see All Weapons please choose click here." Then you click a button next to it and it takes you to another area which has all the starting equipment for your class and the requirements in stills needed to start with each.

Edit: Btw I forgot to mention what brought on this idea. I was making a new character but I was starting on a server I have nothing on (no money or anything.) I wanting to be a Research Pistoler Spy. So I went to neocron.ems.ru to check what character starts with a research tool, scientist does. But I seen scientist starts with a stiletto... wtf... kinda... wtf... ;P I just think they really need to change all that stuff big time and not just make diff noob weapons in the stilettos place. I mean they should give options.

pretty interesting ideas, but I disagree that noobs should have any kind of high-tech skill.

and lets not make new noob weapons, there's already a plethora of noob weapons, recycable even!

You know what'd be cool? If the descriptions of the recyclable weapons came with the ingredients used... so you'd always know how to make another if your current one gets fuked up or you want something with a damage mod.

Love the first idea.

I love making chars, i love to go through menus of options, from skills to what colour boxer shorts i have on.

Be good to un/specialiase people, it owuld specialise them in the sense they are kinda sent down there weapon route but it is a good choice early on, but then at the same time you would see people early on doing different things.

1 Monk Poisoning things, the others burning them, while you have the other chars doing there different little things.

Char Creation and early on stages are important for any game imo as its the first impressions that really count.

Defo like this idea tho

actually there really arent many options for noobs. tank noobs only have melee until they level about 5-10 times and can use grenade launcher.

spies and pe's have the lazar and medicant weapons but still those arent very appealing to a new player.

when you start playing a game the first thing that catches your eyes are graphics and good effects ( ie: tech weapons ) so i think there should be some "Factory Reject" type tech weapons for very noob chars, maybe regent mutant rejected or somethin, if a dumb mutant can get their hands on em im sure a smart noob should be able to ;].

edit:
also it would be more for looks than power because you'd be gimped by putting into TC.
