A properly maintained network with a Cisco back bone is fine. If you had an IDS in place you wouldn't even get close to touching the router, plus they'd most likely have everything being forwarded through various firewalls and filters that will divert network traffic left, right and centre, making it very difficult to connect directly to the router

Yea thats true but you need to be a bit more andvanced computer user to set up a network like that, I mean the thing you just mentioned is probably not the first thing a normal pc user would think of when they buy a router, right?

a "normal pc user" is a computer illiterate person. they are unlikely to be setting up a home network via a router.

i've had worse questions... but i try to wipe them from my memory.

hell a mate (who played NC) owned a net cafe... and he knew fuck all about computers.

i would wander in after work and fix a couple of problems he had and get the rest of the day on the computers for free

Yeah, plus they tend to be a bit more expensive. That kind of setup goes nicely with multiple hardware firewalls with all users logging in using RSA keys or swipe cards

True, whenever I call tech support for anything PC based I always get the impression they only hire normal PC users, lol.

i work in for a bank... you think the people in our call centres know anything about that?

callcentres are full of low paid temps. our department gets 5-10 phone calls a day from our off shore ( ) callcentre asking what to do in this situation... then asking if they are actually allowed to do it...

kinda makes it a waste of time shipping the jobs off to somewhere with cheap labour if we have to spend time doing their jobs doesnt it?

tried to post this without being political about jobs going to other countries
